Choose how each address receives mail
You choose for each address, and you can switch an address between forwarding and hosted later.
Host the domain
For a new domain
- Where mail arrives first
- Intray
- Old email
- Not imported
- Replies are sent
- From Intray
- Changes at your DNS provider
- Inbound mail (MX), DKIM, SPF, and return path
Forward from your provider
For a team that keeps its provider
- Where mail arrives first
- Your provider, which sends Intray a copy
- Old email
- Not imported
- Replies are sent
- From Intray
- Changes at your DNS provider
- DKIM, SPF, and return path. MX stays unchanged
Connect a mailbox
For one mailbox and its history
- Where mail arrives first
- Your provider, and Intray reads it from there
- Old email
- Imported from the folders you choose
- Replies are sent
- Through your own mail server, after you turn it on
- Changes at your DNS provider
- None
Intray generates and checks your DNS records
Each row turns Verified once the record is public, without a refresh. Where your DNS provider supports it, one button adds every record.
Intray tests forwarding before it accepts mail
Intray sends a test message to your address and waits for your provider to forward it back. Until the test arrives, the forwarding address rejects all other mail, so mail sent to a guessed address does not reach your inbox.
Create addresses such as support and billing
Add a domain once, then add the addresses your team shares. Settings shows whether each one can send and receive.
- An address needs no DNS of its own
- DNS records belong to the domain as a whole. Intray suggests info, press, privacy, and support when you add an address.
- Each address has a display name
- A reply from support shows the display name you set, such as Northwind Support.
- One domain can mix the ways
- You choose for each address, so support can live in Intray while a founder's address stays with your provider.
Connect a mailbox and keep its history
Intray reads a mailbox you already have over IMAP and imports only the folders you choose. DNS and MX records stay as they are.
Your browser encrypts the password
The password is encrypted before it leaves the page, so Intray's servers receive ciphertext only.
Sending is a separate switch
Replies go through your own mail server only after you verify the address and turn sending on.
